We own and operate one of the largest sandstone quarries in Arizona. We still have nearly all the same mining supervisors and staff as we did when we began 20 years ago. Our Sandstone is produced by blasting and pulling blocks from the ground.
These blocks are then hand split with chisels at the natural seams that run nearly parallel through the stone. These sheets of stone are known as “Flag” or even more commonly Flagstone. The natural seams determine the thickness of the flagstone.
Our 12 acre facility in Chino Valley, AZ houses our main sales office as well as the largest part of our sawing and fabrication operation. We bring our quarried stone into this yard to be hand sorted for quality to cull out any inferior stone before it is put into inventory for sale or fabrication.
We also have a 17 acre yard in Ashfork Arizona, “The Flagstone Capital of the United States”. We use this yard for inventory and some guillotine fabrication. We also do some shipping from this location.
We hand sort all of our Select stone to make sure that every piece has at least one good usable face and fits into the proper color and thickness range. Our Flagstone has a natural texture to each face that gives it its unique beauty and character. The tightness of the seam where the stone is split will determine how textured the face will become once the layers are separated. We refer to this texture as the natural clefting of the stone and we only allow approximately 1/8” before we sort it out.
We have been fabricating quality dimensional stone in the same location for more than 20 years. We fabricate stone for the smallest homeowner projects to the largest commercial projects.
Nearly all of our stone cutting saws were designed and built by the owner of the company (Don Blaser). We are always striving to find accurate and cost effective methods of fabrication to provide the best product at the best price possible for our customers.
